Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Scholarships

Calling qualified African American/African Diaspora females in San Diego County High Schools to apply! Young men are eligible if they plan to attend an HBCU (Historical Black College or University). 

Awards are $1,000-$1,500 each and the deadline to submit is April 3, 2019.

High school seniors must graduate in Spring 2019 and plan to attend an accredited four-year college in the Fall, 2019. For all awards, students must have a cumulative 3.0 or higher GPA.

The Octavia Coleman Scholarship is awarded to a female or male high school graduate planning to attend a historically black college or university (HBCU).

The Pearlen Denmon Scholarship is awarded to a female attending or residing in the boundary areas of Lincoln HS, San Diego HS or Gompers Preparatory Academy.

The EMRJJ Scholarship for Future Female Engineers is awarded to a female applicant pursuing a degree in a STEM field—preferably entering an accredited College of Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace). She must also be a role model with strong ethical character and willing to mentor peers and/or younger students.

The Empowerment Scholarship is awarded to a female applicant who successfully demonstrates overcoming hardship or special circumstances such as: immigrant or refugee status, special physical or learning needs, foster care, etc.
