Eligibility for Traditional Scholarships with additional criteria listed below:
- Must be an African American female in her last semester of a San Diego County High School
- African American males are eligible to apply only for the Octavia Coleman Award
- Must be accepted by and plan to attend an accredited four-year institution of higher learning
- Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average
- Must submit (2) two letters of recommendation (at least one school official)
- Completed Application using PDF fill-in (handwritten not acceptable)
- Official Transcript (in sealed envelope)
- Recent formal color portrait (recommendation - senior portrait)
One-time $1,000.00 for the following Scholarships:
EMRJJ Scholarship for Future Female Engineers
In Addition to the above criteria:
- African American or African Diaspora Female
- 3.5 / 4.0 GPA (Junior & Senior Years Acceptable)
- Strong ethical character, No unexplained N’s o U’s
- Role model who has or is willing to mentor peers and/or younger students
- (AP) Calculus and/or (AP) Physics GPA 3.0 / 4.0 (Junior & Senior Years Acceptable)
- Acceptance to and plans to attend accredited College of Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace preferred)
Octavia Coleman HBCU Scholarship
In Addition to the above criteria:

- Must be an African American male or female in his / her last semester of a San Diego County High School
- Must be accepted by and plan to attend a Historically Black College or University
Pearlen Denmon Memorial Scholarship
In Addition to the above criteria:
- Must be an African American female attending or reside in the school boundary areas of Lincoln High School, San Diego High School or Gompers Preparatory Academy
- Must express an interest in giving back to her community.
