- University Club “Lamp of Learning” 2017 Senior Award
- San Diego Indian American Society (SDIAS) Scholarship
- Classroom of the Future/AVID High Tech Academic Achievement Scholarship
- Donald R. Costa Scholarship (from Donald R. Costa Endowment Fund)
- Cyndy Bishop Scholarship (includes former AVID Alumni; AVID Dream Team Scholarships)
- Nancy Stabb Scholarship
Todd Gutschow Scholarship
In May of this year, long-time AVID Center board member Todd Gutschow passed away. In honor of his service and passionate commitment to students, the AVID Center Board established a scholarship in his name, with yearly awards of up to $10,000.00 for the next five years. The first scholarships were awarded earlier this year and will continue for four more years.
- Number of awards: up to 2
- Amount: a one-time award, up to $5,000 each
Common Scholarship Application for the AVID STEM scholarships
Extra criteria will be added to the Common Scholarship Application for the AVID STEM scholarships (CFF and SDIAS); however, Senior Standouts who are STEM majors will be considered for all AVID Scholarships. There will also be separate credits given for dual enrollment.

Senior Standout
AVID site teams and senior AVID Elective teachers will be allowed to nominate only one student from their school as their Senior Standout, which in turn will make that student eligible to apply for all AVID Scholarships. A document outlining the criteria for selection as a Senior Standout is attached to this memo.
Classroom of the Future (CFF) and San Diego Indian American Society (SDIAS) scholarships.
AVID site teams and senior AVID Elective teachers may nominate seniors who are STEM majors but were not selected as the Senior Standout from their schools, to apply for the Classroom of the Future (CFF) and San Diego Indian American Society (SDIAS) scholarships.
Timelines for AVID Scholarships
December 2017
- December 1, the San Diego Foundation (SDF) opens the Common Scholarship Application on its website, www.sdfoundation.org, for Senior Standouts to begin the application process.
January 2018
- Senior Standouts continue application process with San Diego Foundation.
February 2018
- February 1 is the final deadline to submit the application with the San Diego Foundation for scholarships.
March 2016
- Interviews are held for Founder’s Scholarship semifinalists.
April 2016
- Interviews are held for Founder’s Scholarship finalist(s).
- Other AVID scholarship recipients are determined by their individual committees.
