Calling All Scientists!

The National Youth Science Camp program brings scientists from across the nation to present lectures and hands-on science experiences to students who want to focus and explore biological and physical sciences intertwined with art and music.

It also includes overnight expeditions into the Monongahela National forest with opportunities for backpacking, rock climbing, caving, mountain biking and kayaking. To apply you must be a graduating senior by June 2019.

14th Annual Young Men’s Leadership Conference

Young men grades 6 through 12 are invited to attend a FREE conference on Saturday, January 26, 2019. The conference will focus on making every day count. Presenters include educators, professionals, college students and community activists who will share their insights and expertise. The conference is the signature event of Brother 2 Brother which honors the principles of accountability, pro-active leadership, self-discipline and intellectual development.

National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution Scholarship

The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) invites all high school students (9th through 12th grades) interested in the American Revolution to participate in the George S. & Stella M. Knight Essay Contest. The contest is open to all US Citizen and Legal Resident students attending home schools, public, parochial, or private high schools in that same grade range. The National Association of Secondary School Principals has placed this program on the 2017-18 NASSP List of Approved Contests, Programs, and Activities for Students.

To participate, students must submit an original 800- to 1,200-word essay based on an event, person, philosophy or ideal associated with the American Revolution, Declaration of Independence, or the framing of the United States Constitution. Each student’s essay will be judged based upon its historical accuracy, clarity, organization, grammar and spelling, and documentation.

The contest is conducted in three phases: the local chapter, state-level society, and national phases. The contest must be entered through an SAR chapter near the student’s residence. In some cases, the contest may be entered at the state level (if the local society does not have chapters or the chapters are not participating) and a contact-at-large should be used to find out more contest details. The list of contest contacts listed below can provide you with assistance in entering the Knight Essay Contest. Only one entry per student is permitted per contest year.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is the first Greek letter organization founded by university educated African American women. Grounded in service to mankind, this international sorority gives back to local and global communities via a variety of philanthropic endeavors. The San Diego Chapter has awarded academic scholarships since it's chartering in 1949. These scholarships are available to female (male if he will attend an HBCU) San Diego County African American or African Diaspora high school seniors who will attend accredited 4-year colleges and universities in Fall of 2019.  40 Hours Community Service preferred (9th – 12th Grades)


Future Female Engineers, EMRJJ Scholarship

 In Addition to Traditional Scholarship Eligibility criteria:

 Must have a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA

 (AP) Calculus and/or (AP) Physics with a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.

 Acceptance to and plan to attend an accredited College of Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace preferred)

 Strong ethical character and role model who has or is willing to mentor peers and/or younger students


Pre-Medical Profession, Unique Healthcare Scholarship

In Addition to Traditional Scholarship Eligibility criteria:

 Must have 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA in Biology and Chemistry

 Must plan to pursue a career in a professional medical field

The 2019-2020 Common Scholarship Application deadline is Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 2pm.

In 2018, more than 876 students received over $2.6 million in scholarships from more than 143 funds that support the Community Scholarship Program. Among the 2018 recipients, 66 percent are the first in their families to attend college and 76 percent are considered low-income students based on Expected Family Contribution data.

Since 1997, $30.4 million has been awarded to thousands of students who help fuel our San Diego economy – making our program the largest private non-university scholarship provider in San Diego County.

The San Diego Foundation continues to find ways to increase educational opportunity and attainment for local students, particularly from underserved communities. Rotary Camp Enterprise School Counselor Student Nominations

Since 1976 the San Diego Unified School District and other San Diego schools have participated in Camp Enterprise. Camp Enterprise is an activity-packed, three-day workshop and this year’s Camp is scheduled for March 14 - 16, 2019 at Camp Cedar Glen in Julian, California. Based on a program developed by the American Management Association, this experience provides a select group of promising 11th grade students with a series of panels, presentations, and group discussions that teach students about the free enterprise system by working in a team to create their own businesses from start to finish.
